Title

Aligning Curriculum and Assessments to Common Core ELA and Math Standards: Dodge City, KS

Dodge City Public Schools (KS)  adopted the Common Core State Standards in 2010. Since then, WestEd has worked with the district to create Common Core instructional units, and to align lessons and assessments to the Common Core's key principles and standards.

WestEd has helped the district develop and put into place a common districtwide assessment system, timely academic interventions for students, and enrichment opportunities for those students performing at or above grade level.

Through its work with WestEd, Dodge City has been able to better meet the needs of the district's nearly 7,000 students, and other districts are now looking to emulate their efforts. For example, Hugoton and Liberal (KS) school districts have enlisted WestEd to help develop their own Common Core curricula.
